A Death Defying Circus Act And Other Good Stuff!

What started out as a truly disappointing evening at neighboring establishment was highlighted by a visit to the Blind Pelican at 1628 St. Charles Ave
in New Orleans.
I walked up the steps to this mansion type building and sat at the bar to order a ===========>
a long sought after local beer from
NOLA Brewing Co.  It was OK, but not hoppy enough for this Hop Head. The bartender knew exactly what I liked as he is a home brewer from Washington State where the beers are full of hops.

So, I'm complaining about this  place I just came from and this guy was very interested in my disappointment. When I asked him why he was SO interested he introduced himself as Steve Seeber, the owner of the Blind Pelican. He just bought the place a couple of months earlier.
So I ordered some oysters and an interesting "Adult Grilled Cheese"
which included pepper-jack, cheddar and fontina cheeses!  One sniff of this and you put on five pounds...very good.

After much conversation with Steve and people at the bar, two of which were almost exact doubles for Woody Harrelson and Sean Penn,
Steve revealed to me that he is recovering from falling 30 feet from his balcony and landed on his feet!!  Although not professionally trained at Ringling Brothers, he made it through this, although nearly breaking every bone in his body!! That's going to hurt in the morning!!
The opinion of the Korean trauma doctor told him, in his professional opinion that; "You are one lucky Mother F#@*ker!"

Since I was at the Blind Pelican in April, there is a new Chef and a new menu and from what I'm reading, things are really good.  I'll be back.
